Today I am thankful for my Mother, Yvonne Liverpool Smith. You supported me when things were good and bad, and without you, I wouldn't be where I am today. You were always there to help me, in any way you could, whether I wanted to be or not. YOU are the person who taught me, to stop worrying about the opinions of other people and to just keep living my truth.
It was your strength and perseverance through life's challenges, that taught me to recognize, that regardless of what has happened up to this point in my life, that I have the power to change my situations, or to at least change the way I think about it. You also taught me, that society's measurement of worth is worthless and that I should always travel down the path of life that made me feel alive and not down the road that others think is right for me.
You taught me never to chase money, but always to pursue my dreams. You taught me never to sell myself short. You taught me to, always think the best about others, and if I gave them time, they would one day show me who they really are. You taught me to respect others. You taught me to always be on time. You taught me that family matters. You taught me to work hard because one day there would be a reward. You taught me never to measure my self-worth on what I have, but instead, I should measure my self-worth by who I am and by my strength, character, and honest heart.
Finally, you taught me that, no matter where life takes me, that I would come across others who think they know what's best for me, but you and you alone, truly know whats best for me. And. For these reasons, I am thankful for you and trust me on this; I will have you back until you close you take your last breath.
