We all have people in our lives that we love unconditionally. People that are struggling or had hardships that we have attempted to help them through their situation. Sometimes we have to allow people to hit rock bottom in order for them to stand themselves up. I know it is tough to see other people drowning, but there isn’t really a way to help people up when they aren’t ready to be helped
We can try to help people change for the better, but the truth is, we can’t change people, nor should you try. We can’t control anyone else’s behavior, and we can’t make another person want to or be able to change. People can change, but only if they want to.
Instead of trying to change people, we can either accept people for who they are, or we can choose to live our lives without them. So, the next time you catch yourself trying to take control over the thoughts and actions of a person other than yourself, remember this, you can love people, but you can’t change people.
