Have you ever felt like every day has been a downward spiral? That your tomorrows seemed like it was just going to be another extension of the bad day you had on yesterday. You woke up with good intentions on your mind, and when your feet hit the floor, you realized that it was just going to be another one of those days.
You stomped your toe on the way to the bathroom, and you stopped and said, here we go again. It’s going to be another one of those days. You get up, ready for a great day ahead and then something happens that totally derails your good intentions. You were hoping for a beautiful, calm, relaxed day. But, things keep spiraling downward as the day unfolded. How did a toe stomp, mess up our whole day?
Because we focused on it, we held on to it. We kept dwelling on it. Yes, it could be one of those days. But it doesn’t have to be. We have the power to interrupt the thought pattern. We have the ability not to let one bad moment, turn into a bad day.
We must redirect our attention. We must interrupt those negative thoughts and feelings as they arise. A bad moment does not have to become a bad day. It is up to you to come to the awareness, that, that moment has passed, that it is over and done with, that the rest of the day will bring with it, plenty of opportunities for a good day. All we have to do is be open to them.
