Day Thirty-Five: 40-Day Journey of Gratitude
Today I am thankful for diversity. The world has so many different people, cultures, and religions and diversity can be a beautiful thing. But, so many people fight anything different, for some reason different seams to threaten people. But, diversity should enlighten us and give us new perspectives. I have learned that diversity is a path that we must all experience, it gives us an opportunity to learn from and about other. But, most of all, it teaches us about ourselves, our own biases and insecurities. We must never take for granted the power of different and we must be thankful for diversity.
Uncle Paul's Thought: One must look beyond the obvious, ones' skin color, gender, beliefs, culture, religion, genetic makeup, and behavior and we must confront our prejudices, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. We must also celebrate diversity, for diversity is not to be feared, it is to be a teacher, and we are to be it, students. Imagine a world where everything and everybody was the same, what a boring place it would be. God put a rainbow in the sky, and we must celebrate its uniqueness and not fear it.
It's Just A Thought
